2011 Bruins Reunite to Support Warrior for Life Fund
A once-in-a-lifetime hockey game captured the attention of hockey fans. Thirteen members of the 2011 Stanley Cup-winning Boston Bruins team reunited at Warrior Ice Arena for a memorial game supporting the Warrior for Life Fund. Patrice Bergeron, Zdeno Chara, David Krejci, Tuukka Rask, and other Boston Bruin greats faced off against the Warrior for Life Fund All-Stars.
“It’s going to be amazing,” Bergeron said before the game. “We don’t get these chances to reconnect often, so it’s a perfect opportunity to reminisce and catch up while supporting an incredible cause.”
The game wasn’t just about hockey—it was about camaraderie. Kevan Miller, a former Bruins defenseman and Warrior for Life Fund board member emphasized the shared respect between the SEALs and the players. “As athletes, we look up to them for what they do for our country. This is our way of giving back,” Miller said.
The Warrior for Life Fund offers off-ice support programs like the Resilient Warrior initiative. Resilient Warrior is a six-session program that helps Veterans and Service Members manage stress. The program teaches participants to control their stress response, improving resilience and adaptability. This allows veterans and service members to build mental and emotional resilience.
“Hockey is saving lives,” Miller added. “It’s incredible to see how the sport brings people together, whether it’s the guys in the locker room or the veterans we support.”
